The WallBean
What usually disappears after your morning coffee doesn’t quite disappear here. It lingers. It settles into space.
This is The WallBean, a modular acoustic panel made from coffee textile and Paulowna wood. Each panel starts with something that would normally be thrown away and turns it into something you can keep looking at, touching and using.
One panel represents around 15 cups of coffee. But The WallBean is about more than just coffee waste. The panels can be arranged, rotated and combined in different ways, giving you the freedom to create your own composition. Your wall becomes your canvas, making every installation a little different and completely your own.
And because every panel is handmade, no two are exactly alike. I work with local resources from Arnhem, collecting coffee waste from local cafés and using wool from a nearby petting farm. Even the making process is kept as gentle as possible. The material isn’t pressed into shape. Instead, I let Mother Nature do the work, allowing the panels to dry naturally with as little energy as possible.
Built to soften busy spaces, but also to spark a small moment of curiosity. To make you look twice at something we usually throw away without thinking.
From coffee cup to wall piece. Maybe waste was never the end of the story.
